An EXCELLENT Experience at Bergan!

By CHI Health January 19, 2012 Posted in: Patient Stories

On January 3 my son came into Pediatric Express next to ER at Bergan Mercy in horrible pain.  Upon arrival, we were very unsure what was wrong with him. After only a 5 minute wait, we were seen and taken into a room. After a few tests, we were told his appendix was enlarged and needed to be removed immediately.  They called in the surgeon Dr. Imbrock at that time.  He was there in less than 20 minutes.  My son was starting to get very nervous and scared at the thought of having surgery.  Nurse Rhonna was very caring and sweet and came in to talk him through it and get him relaxed and not feel uneasy.  She gave him a hug.

After surgery, Dr. Imbrock came out after midnight and took his time explaining what went on and what we needed to expect and was willing to answer any questions we had.  The nurses on the Peds floor after settling him in took such good care of him and allowed us to stay with him all night.

The next morning Dr. Imbrock came in to see him and again was very comforting and careful to tell us all information we needed in order to take him home.  He took his time explaining and had a GREAT bedside manner.

Many years ago my husband's family had a terrible experience at Bergan Mercy and he came out of there the next day saying his mind has been changed, we were very happy with the care we recieved at Bergan.

Thank you!
