And the winner is … the American Cancer Society

The Relay for Life donations are in … the totals have been tallied … and the dust has finally settled on tracks across the community. After all is said and done, CHI Health employees have raised nearly $60K for the American Cancer Society ($58,116.86 to be exact)!

Pretty amazing, right?
These donations came on the backs of more than 38 Relay for Life teams from across the system, who took part in six separate events across the region. The money raised will now help fund the American Cancer Society’s efforts to support research programs, build more patient support services and increase prevention and early detection programs – among countless other projects.

Here at home, our cancer patients will benefit from new patient education materials and books, “Look Good Feel Better” programs, support groups, gas cards and assistance with hotel stays for those who must travel. But again, that’s only scratching the surface of how the efforts of a few will help so many.

Didn’t have a chance to support the cause this year?
There’s always next year. Relay for Life is an opportunity for us, as a community, to come together and “Remember, Celebrate & Fight Back”:

Remember those who have been lost to the disease.
Celebrate with those who have battled cancer.
Make a promise to Fight Back against the disease.

As you can see in this one short post, your generosity towards Relay for Life will be put to good use.
