Mental Illness impacts one in four people in America and has devastating effects on the health and well-being of individuals. People struggling with mental health and substance abuse problems are unable to live full lives and fully function within communities. Many times, individuals don’t receive the care they need because it either isn’t available or it is a seen as “taboo” to seek treatment. Sexual/Domestic Trauma: SANE Brings Compassionate Intervention to Those in Crisis

One in six. That’s how many women in the U.S. are sexually assaulted, according to statistics. In fact, every 98 seconds in the US. there’s another victim of sexual assault, and one in 10 of them are male. How about one in three, and one in four? That’s how many women and men, respectively, are victims of intimate partner violence. What if each and every one had a specially-trained ally in the emergency department or the hospital? That’s the revelation behind CHI Health’s SANE program. SANE stands for sexual assault nurse examiner.
