Self Care - It’s Me Time and It’s Okay

Prioritizing our own self-care sometimes gets a bad name. Sometimes, in the “me” generation it’s like “oh, they’re always thinking about themselves.” But, there’s a balance that we’re working towards. It’s okay, it’s important, and it's absolutely necessary to think about yourself once in a while and what your needs are. For mom, taking some time away from family just to be out with the girls. For dad, you need some downtime too.

When we take care of ourselves, we actually have more to give all the important people in our lives including our kids, the rest of our family, our extended family, and even our employers. They get the best of us when we do the best for ourselves and that's why you need to make yourself a priority in parenthood.

Some Ideas for Self Care as a Parent are to:

  • Sleep 7 to 9 hours every night
  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Exercise regularly
  • Enjoy life

It’s okay to think about yourself first. When you take care of yourself first, everybody else gets the best part of you too. It works.
