Look for the Good People

My friend and fellow mental health therapist, Mat Balcetis, LIMHP, sent an email to me today. It is a quote from Fred Rogers of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. Do any of you remember that show on PBS? I loved that show. The quote applies today as much as it did way back when. I invite you to consider Mr. Rogers’ sentiment as you talk with your family and friends – especially your children – regarding the bombs at the Boston Marathon, the explosion in Texas or any other scary stuff that happens.

“When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

“To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.” – Mr. Rogers.

Good advice for all. Thanks Mr. Rogers.

I grew up about 7 houses down from Mr. Rodgers in Latrobe, PA. He was a WONDERFUL guy! We was always full of words of wisdom! Miss him!
