There's Always Hope

By Karen Williams, LIMHP June 08, 2018 Posted in: Mental Health

You may have been drinking your morning coffee today when you heard of yet another suicide by a famous person. We have had two such incidents in less than a week. For many of us, this type of information is confusing, saddening, and leaves us wondering why. Why would someone so attractive, so famous and so rich do this? Didn’t these beautiful, smart, amazing people - the epitome of the American dream -  have it all?

Why would someone who has it all end it all?

The truth is, we may never know the answer to these troubling questions.

However, as a health care provider who works with a lot of other health care providers, we all want to make sure that you, our readers, our patients and members of this amazing community, know that there is always help, there is always someone to talk to, and there are always better solutions than ending one's life.

The Solution: Suicide Prevention

At CHI Health, we often discuss that "there is no wrong door." What this means to you, and the community we serve, is that there is no wrong way to ask for help. At CHI Health there is an open invitation to speak to any of your providers openly so that we can get you all the help, all the care, all the services, and all the information you need to lead a healthy, happy and hopeful life.

Here are a few phone numbers to reach out for help:

  • Lasting Hope -(402) 717-HOPE (4673) or (800) 523-7294
  • National Suicide Prevention - (800) 273-TALK (8255)
  • Local Emergency Services - 911
