Time is Muscle: Every Second Counts

This month we featured an incredibly moving patient story in our e-newsletter (sign up here!). Brad Stover was 38 years old and holding an indoors camping adventure with his two little boys, when he woke up to extreme pain in both of his forearms.

Though he first thought it was a severe case of tendonitis – he received the shock of his life when he arrived at the hospital and found out what was really going on.

Thankfully, all of our hospitals are certified Chest Pain Centers – and the second Brad mentioned that his chest was a little tight, our emergency department team got to work testing his heart. Had Brad’s wife taken him to another ER – where staff aren’t necessarily specially trained to diagnose atypical heart attack symptoms – he could have sat in the waiting room for another half hour … or more! Instead, because he was at Midlands Hospital, Brad was resting peacefully in the Intensive Care Unit within minutes of arriving.

And when you’re having a heart attack, every second counts.
